Thanks to a very dedicated group of moms in our community, we’ve built a FREE Family Resource for Central Illinois.

It's all online...WHY?  Busy families don't need any more paperwork coming in, and we love the comfort of our keyboard where we can access what we need anytime, day or night!

Our 2008 Advisory Board

Kim Leistner Little (Founder & President) a Consulting Editor for a major college textbook publisher for 14 years, Kim is mother to Amanda (5) and Vanessa (4.)  A Springfield native, she has been married to Michael for 9 years, and they have two adopted dogs from the local Animal Protective League.  Although she works tirelessly on Springfield Moms which has now become her full-time job!  She has also gone green and is a Shaklee Independent Distributor.   She loves ballet, any quiet time alone and bags of licorice!
Dawn Diveley (Webmaster & Director of Web Design) redesigned our site in FrontPage and continues to bring so much value and dedication to Springfield Moms! Dawn works full time as a computer analyst.  While she is not working or updating the website, she is taking care of her two boys, Brice (8) and Tanner (4) or enjoying downtime singing and playing guitar. 

Julie Kaiser (Director of Communications & Public Relations) chases after her son Jakob (6) and daughter Laura (3) at home while working part-time as a freelance writer and editor during their naptimes ... which unfortunately leaves no time for her own nap schedule!  She is married to Scott, and they live in Chatham.

Bridget Ingebrigtsen (Advisory Board) is the mother of four children: Loretta, 9; Dorothy, 8; Steven, 6; and Sheelah, 2. She and her husband, Jarod, moved to the Springfield area from Elk Grove Village in 2001.  Bridget is the editor of Springfield Business Journal and she also owns Write On Command, a writing and editing business.

Jen Dillman (Advisory Board) is the mother of Carmen (4) and Connor (1).  She works part time as Finance Director for Congressman John Shimkus' campaign and is also a member of the Sangamon County Board.  She enjoys being involved in many other community activities as well, but especially loves playdates, tumbling lessons, and music classes with her kids!

Amy McFadden (Advisory Board & Columnist) is a full-time domestic manager with two children, Will (5) and Alice (3); and a husband, Kevin.  In her former life-before-kids, she was an attorney.

Michele Tungett (Advisory Board & In the Kitchen Editor) grew up in Pennsylvania and was a Flight Attendant before becoming a SAHM to Matt (7) and Amelia (2).  She and her husband Mike, an airline pilot, moved to Springfield almost 8 years ago and she enjoys scrapbooking, photography and reading cookbooks in her spare time.

Maya Borski (Special Events & Scrapbook)  Mother to Graclyn (2).  She has worked full-time as a Negotiator for BlueCross BlueShield for the past 8 yrs.  In her spare time enjoys the outdoors, scrapbooking and volunteering for Springfield Moms!

Suzanne Borland (Advisory Board) spends most of her time raising Drew (6) and Jessica (4). She has been married to Jim for 10 years and in her "spare time" teaches legal studies at the University of Illinois at Springfield and aerobics at FitClub.

Carrie Sluga (Advisory Board & Family Forum Moderator) is a stay at home mom who breastfeeds, babywears and cloth diapers her 2 kids Aili (3.5) and Frank (almost 2).

 

Allison Klint (Advisory Board) loves being a full-time stay-at-home mom to Katie(6) and Joey(4) and wife to John.  In her spare time, she serves on the PTO executive board for Katie's school as well as volunteer at both kids' schools, church and Springfield Moms.  She can also be found playing bunco and reading. 

Jennifer Madiar (Advisory Board & Copyeditor) spent seven years in Advertising, three years teaching, one year in Marketing, and is now the CEO of the Madiar Household.  Jennifer, husband Eric, and their son, Jack (born May 2007), reside in Washington Park and are living proof that Packers and Bears fans can live in harmony. 

Becky Aud Jennison (Advisory Board, Ask the Counselor) is a psychotherapist that has worked with a wide variety of  clientele including children and families for the past 20 years; her  website is www.lifejourneycoaches.com.  Becky now also enjoys working with cardiac patients along with her husband when not at home with their blended family of nine ages 20-3.

Lisa Whelpley (Advisory Board)  Mother to Ethan (6).  Lisa works full-time as a fund-raiser, and teaches part-time, both at UIS.  In her spare time enjoys reading, scrapbooking and traveling.

 

Erica Christell (Executive Assistant) is mother of three children: Collin (15), Nathan (9), and Addison (2). She is a Springfield native and married to Chip.  She attends Springfield College in Illinois, working towards a degree in Business Administration.   She is very active at her children’s schools, church, and volunteers for many non-for-profit organizations.   In her “free” time she loves jewelry making, shopping and is working hard to “go green!”

Jennifer Pollock, MA,CCC-SLP  (Ask the Professional- Speech Therapist)

Jenn has worked for Memorial Medical Center for over 10 years, primarily in Pediatrics; Member of the SIU Cleft Palate Team, Central IL Speech and Hearing Assoc, and American Speech-Language-Hearing Assoc.  She is married to Scotland-native Ian since 2001, and they were pen pals for 17 years before!  She is the mom to Sam almost 3 and Sophie Lou 5 months!  She also loves scrapbooking, reading, and playing with her kiddos.

 

Tanya DeSanto (Ask the Professional- Dentist) is the mother of Emma (6) and Grace (5). She is a family and cosmetic dentist in Springfield, but her favorite job is mom! Tanya has been married to pediatrician Craig Batterman for 9 years. Both originally from Chicago, they have called Springfield home for 10 years.

Mary Byers (Series Editor) is a professional speaker and freelance writer and author of The Mother Load: How to Meet Your Own Needs While Caring for your Family. www.themotherload.net She lives in Chatham with her husband Stuart and their two youngest children, Marissa (11) and Mason (9).
